Date: 2026/4/17
To promote the culture of sports among the entire population and the concept of low-carbon tourism, the “2026 Hualien Bicycle Day” was successfully held on April 25th (Saturday) at Hualien Sun Square!
With the enthusiastic support of car enthusiasts across Taiwan, all the available spots have been filled. The county government expressed its gratitude to the public for their support for this event. Although registration has closed, on the day of the event, the “Seascape Market” will be expanded, and there will also be a lottery with a prize of 10,000 yuan. People who haven’t registered are invited to come and experience the vibrant charm of the Pacific Coast.
The county government stated that the event aims to create a friendly and inclusive atmosphere for participants. Not only is the registration process completely free, but there are also various activities that reflect the local culture. One of the highlights of the event is the “Freshly Roasted Crispy Pork” station. This station combines local culinary traditions to provide participants with proper nutrition at key points along the route. In addition to enjoying the beautiful scenery of the sea and sky, participants can also experience the rich cultural heritage of Hualien, thereby enhancing their overall experience of the event.
In addition, to boost the local economy and enhance participants’ sense of achievement, a large-scale “Seafreeze Market” was organized at Nanbin Sunshine Square on the day of the event. The market featured various gourmet foods, cultural and creative products, as well as agricultural specialties. As a way to give back to the local community, the county government also organized a “Market Spending Raffle” as a special attraction. Visitors who spent money at any of the market stalls received a raffle ticket. Prizes included 43-inch 4K LCD monitors, beauty humidifiers, mechanical turntable microwave ovens, Soda Presso bubble water makers, and negative-ion hair dryers – all excellent prizes.
The route is designed with “accessibility for all ages” as a key principle. The activity starts from Nanbin Sunshine Square, follows the coastal bicycle path all the way to Hualien Port View Bridge, and then returns along the same route. The total distance is approximately 4.32 kilometers one way. The route is gentle and safe, with beautiful views of the sea. It’s ideal for families, leisurely cyclists, and older adults. It balances safety with the value of sightseeing.
The Hualien County Government pointed out that bicycle-related activities not only contribute to promoting low-carbon transportation and healthy lifestyles, but also serve as an important means of enhancing local tourism. Although the number of spots for cycling activities was fully booked for this event, the market fair and raffle events held on that day were open to tourists from both within and outside the country. The hope is that these activities will further boost Hualien’s tourism potential and help create a more attractive tourist destination as a whole.
We sincerely invite people from all over the country to come to the event on the day of the event. Come and cheer for the cyclists, and join us in celebrating 2026 Hualien Bicycle Day. Experience Hualien’s unique charm of mountains and seas, as well as its laid-back lifestyle.

| 2026 Hualien Mountain-Sea Cycling Adventure: Launch on the 20th. Participate in mountain and sea cycling activities to win iPhones. Collect stamps to get custom-designed scarves. |
Date: 2026/3/18
On the 20th, Hualien County Government launched the “2026 Hualien Mountain-Sea Cycling Adventure” event, which includes a stamp-collecting component. In collaboration with the Jianxing Benji app, two phases of rewards are offered, seamlessly blending technology with natural beauty. The event consists of two phases. The first phase runs from March 20th to April 24th. Participants simply need to ride their bikes and complete the stamp-collecting tasks in the app to qualify for a chance to win an iPhone. After that, the second phase begins on April 25th and lasts until October 31st. During this phase, participants collect digital “flowers” along designated routes. They can then exchange these for commemorative scarves and cash coupons worth 100 yuan each. Those who complete all five routes will have a chance to win an iPhone and an Ouduna leisure chair.
Hualien County Mayor Hsu Chen-wei said that Hualien boasts unique natural resources. It’s also the only city in Taiwan to be selected as one of Agoda’s 9 best natural tourism destinations in Asia. This international recognition gives Hualien an even greater sense of responsibility in promoting low-carbon tourism. Through the slow pace of cycling, travelers can truly experience Hualien’s beauty. Hualien aims to become a “sensory classroom,” where people of all ages can create lasting and happy memories of their travels amidst the blue sky and green landscapes.
Yu Ming-hsun, the director of the Hualien County Tourism Bureau, further explained that, in order to implement the county governor’s vision for development, this event focused on two key areas: smart tourism and integration with local communities. By digitizing the entire experience, visitors can use a simple app to navigate and explore the area. This greatly enhances the interactivity and technological aspect of the experience. The five selected routes are all quite gentle in slope, with lengths ranging from 4 to 8 kilometers each. They’re perfect for people of all fitness levels. Upon completing each route, visitors receive a voucher worth 100 yuan to be used at local shops. This helps to turn the trend towards low-carbon tourism into support for the local economy. In this way, visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery while also contributing to the local businesses in Hualien.
This year’s five selected routes include the Liangtan Shuguang Line in Hualien City, the Shoufeng Linyutan Ring Route, the Guangfu Wetland Ecology Route, the Ruisui Rural Healing Route, and the Yuli Daolang Railway Route. Each route showcases Hualien’s unique blend of mountains and seas. Partner car rental companies such as Jiaotazhi, Youjia, Xiaoyan, and TR9 are all ready to welcome cyclists. It’s recommended that visitors check with these companies in advance before departing. The 2026 Mountain-Sea Cycling Adventure isn’t just a cycling tour, but also a journey of spiritual connection with nature. For more details, please visit the official website.
